Makkah

The Holy City of Makkah, which lies inland 73 kilometers east of Jiddah, is the place where the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, was born - the place where the first message was  revealed to him and the city to which he returned after the migration to Madinah in 622 AD.

Makkah has many names. In the Quran, Allah mentioned a few different names of Makkah


 (In Surah fath 48:24)
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى كَفَّ أَيۡدِيَهُمۡ عَنكُمۡ وَأَيۡدِيَكُمۡ عَنۡہُم بِبَطۡنِ مَكَّةَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ أَنۡ أَظۡفَرَكُمۡ عَلَيۡهِمۡ‌ۚ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ بَصِيرً
And He it is Who has withheld their hands from you and your hands from them in the midst of Makkah, after He had made you victors over them. And Allâh is Ever the All-Seer of what you do. (24).
